Police arrest gang of kidnappers in SP

The São Paulo Civil Police arrested, on Tuesday (25) seven suspects of integrating a gang specializing in kidnappings that acted in noble neighborhoods of São Paulo. Among the detainees are suspected of the kidnapping of a lawyer in the Perdizes region, in the capital. The arrests were authorized by the court at the request of the 3rd Anti -Sequestrical Police Station (DAS).

The suspects will be responsible for the crimes of kidnapping and extortion. They did not have the names disclosed, which made it impossible to contact their defenses.

The investigation into the gang action began after the lawyer’s kidnapping, on November 11 last year. He came home in a luxury vehicle when he was approached by the criminals. During the period when he remained in private jail, in a forest area, the criminals made transactions using the victim’s cell phone.

They also demanded that the lawyer’s brother pay the rescue. The loss at the time was over $ 50,000. The victim was released after more than five hours of captivity, in km 45 of the Raposo Tavares Highway, in Vargem Grande Paulista. The lawyer’s car was located almost a month later in Cotia, in the same region.

Investigations pointed to the existence of a network of kidnappers acting in the region.

With analysis of security cameras, expert results and other police actions that led to the identification of the gang members, the court issued the arrest warrants.

Of the seven prisoners, five had a participation in the kidnapping of Perdizes’s lawyer.

The search warrants, seizure and arrest were served in the capital and cities of Cotia, Itapevi, Osasco and Taboão da Serra. Investigated people must be responsible for the crimes of kidnapping and extortion.

In addition to the DAS, police from the Armed Group on theft and Assaults (GAR), the Special Reaction Group (Ger) and the Department of Strategic Police Operations (DOPE) participated in the operation.
