Police arrest group specialized in Rolex robberies and bank breakouts in Rio

Rio de Janeiro's civil police carried out a task force to arrest the leader and members of what is considered the largest robbery gang active in Rio de Janeiro. The action, commanded by the 12th Police Station, in Copacabana, took place between Wednesday (22) and this Thursday (23).

According to delegate Angelo Lages, leading the police action, four men were arrested. The group specialized in robbing victims who had withdrawn money from bank branches and also robbing luxury watches, from the Rolex brand, for example.

The crimes were committed in the south and central regions of Rio de Janeiro. Images from security cameras and diligence were necessary to reach the suspects.

One of the criminals used his own car to commit one of the robberies. After analysis by the civil police intelligence sector, it was discovered that the owner of the vehicle had a criminal record for a similar crime.

On Wednesday (22), three search and seizure warrants were executed, one of them against Gustavo Ferreira. At his home, agents located the car used in the gang's actions and a bag that contained the bank cards of one of the victims.

From this, it was possible to identify four members of the group, temporarily arrested this Thursday (23), and their roles in the scheme.

The leader of the gang was identified as Bruna França Nunes, responsible for organizing the group and choosing the victims to be approached. She also acted as a scout for robbers' targets.

Luis Henrique da Silva, who was responsible for carrying out the approaches, was also arrested. Fábio Aguiar Correa do Nascimento was named by the police as the driver of the motorcycle used in the actions and, finally, Gustavo Ferreira, already mentioned as the group's driver, who took care of the gang's escapes.

Everyone's temporary arrest lasts for 30 days. According to Lages, all of the gang's members already had police experience and previous court convictions for similar crimes.
