The Civil Police of the Federal District arrested this Wednesday (17) ten people, including lawyers and businessmen, suspected of fraud in the execution of high-value extrajudicial titles at the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories (TJ-DFT).
In total, investigators identified 25 fraudulent actions in the Federal District and one in the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJ-PR). As a result, the loss to victims is estimated at R$5 million.
Police say that the lawyers representing both the plaintiff and the defendant were in collusion. In this way, after filing the lawsuits, they simulated an agreement that was approved by the court. Since the payment was not made voluntarily, they indicated bank accounts for the freezing of funds.
With the blockade, they requested the issuance of warrants to withdraw the money, which was transferred to an account of one of the lawyers and then transferred to several people, including shell companies, in order to make tracking difficult.
According to the Civil Police, the criminal group filed sham lawsuits using powers of attorney, proof of residence and fake promissory notes, demanding amounts ranging from R$500,000 to R$100 million. The victims were generally elderly or deceased people whose assets had been duly mapped by the group.
The ten arrests are temporary. Eleven search and seizure warrants were also served in Belo Horizonte (MG), Goiânia (GO), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Seropédica (RJ). According to the police, all the warrants were served by 2 pm.
The investigation began after the TJ-DFT Demand Profile Monitoring Center detected possible fraud in the execution of high-value extrajudicial titles. Thus, it forwarded the case to the Civil Police for an investigation to be opened.
