Police arrest loan shark who threatened victim with gun to head

The Civil Police of Mato Grosso do Sul arrested, this Wednesday (11), a loan shark accused of attacking a woman and pointing a gun at her head while charging abusive interest.

The investigations began last month, after the victim filed a report reporting the abuse. According to her, the loan was taken out two years ago and soon after she began to be extorted with interest of 40% per month. Furthermore, the victim suffered episodes of violence and serious threats

The complaint was motivated by an extreme episode: the woman was forced into the suspect’s truck, who allegedly pointed a pistol at her head and pulled the trigger. The shooting did not occur because the gun was unloaded, but the suspect reportedly said that the next time it would be loaded.

The victim also reported to the police that he had been punched by the loan shark. The attacks were proven with a forensic examination.

As interest payment, the loan shark demanded the transfer of two properties and had already taken three vehicles from the victim in previous episodes.

The woman also showed the police conversations in which the suspect threatened and cursed her, proof of bank transfers and the report that attested to the attacks.

The case gained repercussion, after which the loan shark signed a document declaring the payment of the debt and returning the vehicles, but included a clause that prevented the victim from proceeding with the police report.

However, the crimes are an unconditional public criminal action and for this reason the police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office continued the investigations that resulted in the arrest of the loan shark.

During the operation, agents seized a .380 caliber pistol, a simulated firearm, brass knuckles, cash, documents and promissory notes.
