The São Paulo Civil Police arrested a 50-year-old man who was transporting more than 2,000 bricks of marijuana this Sunday afternoon (2), on Marginal Pinheiros.
More than a ton and a half of the drug was hidden in a shipment of logs. The approach took place at km 11 of the Marginal expressway, near the Jardim Panorama neighborhood, west of São Paulo.
The suspect’s truck entered the radar of police officers from the State Department for the Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc) after being involved in an accident near the toll plaza in Osasco.
Agents of the 4th Police Station of the Division of Investigations on Narcotics (Dise) requested support from other teams to carry out the approach.
A few kilometers later, the driver was ordered to stop. He got out of the vehicle to talk to the police and, after trying to flee on foot, he was arrested.
The man did not present the tax document for the wood logs and did not inform the fate of the 2,124 bricks of marijuana found inside the cargo compartment. The suspect was taken to court for drug trafficking.
The case was registered at Dise’s 4th Police Station and the seized material was sent for expertise. According to the Civil Police of São Paulo, investigations continue.
