In joint action, civil and military police arrested the second suspect of killing student Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem Santos, aged 25, in the early hours of Sunday (19), during a robbery, on Copacabana Beach. The young man, born in Mato Grosso do Sul, was in Rio de Janeiro with a group of friends to watch singer Taylor Swift’s concert.
The prisoner was identified as Jonathan Batista Barbosa, 37 years old. He was located by agents in the Lapa neighborhood, in the center of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Jonathan already had police records for robbery, homicide, possession of a firearm, bodily harm, theft and receiving possession.
Earlier, another participant in the crime was detained. Anderson Henriques Brandão was recognized and confessed to the crime at the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC).
The two suspects involved in the case, now arrested, had already been arrested for other crimes last week, but were released by the courts, in a custody hearing held last Friday (17). The two are once again at the disposal of Justice.
Victim was a fan of Taylor Swift

The tourist was an Aeronautical Engineering student at a university in Belo Horizonte (MG). According to a friend of the victim’s family, Gabriel arrived in the capital of Rio de Janeiro on Friday (17). He and his friends would enjoy the tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro while waiting for the show date. The group would go to the performance this Sunday (19).
In the early hours of yesterday (19), the tourist was approached by criminals on Copacabana Beach. During a robbery, Gabriel was stabbed and died.
