This Wednesday morning (18), agents from the Paraty (RJ) police station carried out search and seizure warrants in Ubatuba, on the coast of São Paulo, against suspects of participating in a shooting attack, which caused the death of two people — including a PM — and left an Argentine tourist injured.
The shooting took place at the end of November, at a kiosk on Praia do Pontal, close to the Historic Center of Paraty.
According to investigations led by delegate Marcelo Russo, from the 167th DP, the suspicion is that the criminals hid in the neighboring state, 73 kilometers away from Paraty.
During the investigations authorized by the Court, a man was arrested in the act. With him, the police seized a precision scale, drugs and several cell phones.
“Now, let’s stand for the breach of secrecy [dos aparelhos celulares] to strengthen the evidence in the police investigation”, explained Dr. Marcelo Russo.
Crime and victims
The attack took place in the early hours of November 30, at a kiosk on Praia do Pontal, in Paraty.
Armed men opened fire at the scene, killing military police officer Elieze Oliveira da Silva, aged 38, who died instantly, as well as a man accused of involvement in drug trafficking, who had 12 police experience.
Argentine tourist Guillermo Albarracín, 35, was shot in the leg and taken to hospital.
According to investigations, the two dead were targets of criminals. The Argentine tourist, who was at the scene, is considered innocent and was hit by mistake.
CCTV footage shows the moment when four criminals armed with 556 rifles arrive at the kiosk and shoot at point blank range. There were almost 30 shots. Desperate, people try to escape by running or crawling on the ground to escape the shots.
The bandits, dressed in dark pants, combat boots and bulletproof vests, used a white car to carry out the attack. Another security camera recorded the moment the group fled in the vehicle.
The Civil Police suspect that the attack was motivated by a settlement of scores between rival criminal factions operating in the region.
The case continues to be investigated by the 167th Police Station (Paraty), which works to investigate the connections between those involved.
