Police arrest suspect for killing and dismembering trans woman in Rio de Janeiro

The Civil Police arrested, this Friday (7), a man suspected of having killed and dismembered a transsexual woman, in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), the victim, whose name was only known as Taila, was killed in January of this year, in the Vigário Geral neighborhood, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

“According to the investigations, the accused, who was at his residence, hired the professional services of the victim, known as Taila, through a specialized website. Family members and friends, in view of the lack of telephone contact with her, found her disappearance strange,” the police said in a note.

“They accessed a device, through which they located the last transport ride by app made by her, which was from Duque de Caxias to Vigário Geral. Then, they went to the destination address, being received by the criminal, who had a swollen arm and hand,” added the statement.

The suspect would have fled after “some disconnected conversations”. “The police arrived at his residence and found that the victim’s body had been dismembered”, completed the Civil Police.

The man was arrested in Praça da República, in downtown Rio, in action with the support of the intelligence sector and the military police.
