Police arrest suspect in New York subway shooting

Frank James, a suspect in the New York subway shooting, was arrested by police in New York’s East Village on Wednesday, three police officers told reporters. CNN.

Police officers on patrol at the 9th precinct in the city center arrested him, they said.

James became a suspect in the crime this morning. On Tuesday, he was identified as a “person of interest”, meaning his involvement came under investigation by the police.

According to the officers who carried out the arrest, he was identified as he was walking through the streets of the city.

The suspect’s identification was made from a key found at the subway station where the shooting took place, in the Brooklyn neighborhood. The key corresponded to a van, rented in Philadelphia, which was linked to James. Then, a weapon also recovered at the scene of the attack was connected to the suspect, who would have bought it.

In the incident at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park, the perpetrator threw smoke grenades into one of the carriages, and shortly afterwards began shooting, while still inside the train. He continued the attack at the station, firing 33 shots, New York Police Chief Detective James Essig reported.
