Rio de Janeiro police arrested this Friday (17) another drug dealer involved in the death of app driver José Paulo dos Santos, aged 58, who was beaten after refusing to leave a passenger in a risky area in the neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Porto Novo, in São Gonçalo. The case happened in July 2024.
According to investigations, the victim was attacked by drug traffickers from the Pombal community after asking a passenger who was aboard his vehicle to disembark in an area that was not considered at risk. Dissatisfied with the request, the girl complained to her boyfriend, who was one of the local drug dealers.
Then, the criminal asked for help from other accomplices, who prepared an ambush when the passenger disembarked. They captured the driver and beat him to death. The couple involved in the crime had already been in prison since last year.
The individual arrested this Friday – whose name was not released – will be charged with qualified homicide.
