Police arrest suspected of keeping wife in private jail for 5 years

The man suspected of having kept his wife in private jail for five years was arrested last week in the metropolitan region of Curitiba.

Jean Machado Ribas, however, was released after a custody hearing. Two days later, an arrest warrant was issued against him, but the individual is on the run.

As determined by CNN the victim was rescued after a complaint sent by her to the Brazilian Women’s House by email.

According to the Civil Police, Jean is suspected of committing private sequestration and prison crimes, bodily injury against women, threat and causing emotional damage. According to the Military Police, the perpetrator was covered by family members.

Previously, the victim delivered a ticket to a gas station asking for help. At first, however, denied the facts. Thus, the police asked her to write on a paper, in order to check if there was similarity to the letter of the message delivered days earlier at the post. The resemblance between the two caligraffes was noted by the corporation.

The woman was questioned by the agents if she had a cell phone and replied that she used her husband’s device and had another phone in the residence she reported being used by her son. However, the device had no contact list, WhatsApp and chip.

Subsequently, the police asked what was the email on the mobile phone. At this time, the corporation found that it was the same address that sent the request for help to the Brazilian Women’s House.

After being asked who would have access to that device, the victim began to cry and reported that he had indeed made the complaint but was afraid to confirm the information. She also said she suffered numerous aggressions, having been tied and asphyxiated and could not contact family members.
