The Civil Police of São Paulo informed, this Tuesday (17), that it requested the breach of bank secrecy of Alicia Muller, the USP medical student who is suspected of having embezzled almost R$ 1 million from her class’s graduation.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the team from the Specialized Criminal Investigations Police Station (Deic) of São Bernardo do Campo “requested the breach of bank secrecy and is working to clarify the case”.
The 25-year-old student is the subject of a police inquiry at the unit to investigate crimes of money laundering and embezzlement. She would have given a loss of BRL 192,000 to a lottery after not paying for the bets she made.
This investigation takes place in parallel with the investigation of the 16th Police District, which specifically investigates the crime of embezzlement involving Alicia’s graduation class money.
Also this Tuesday (17), Procon-SP notified the company Ás Formaturas, which had been hired by Class 106 of the Faculty of Medicine of USP (FMUSP) for the graduation celebrations.
Procon-SP asked for “explanations about the case of embezzlement from the fund of the event”.
“The company must explain who authorized the transfer of amounts and what criteria were established for moving money between Ás Formaturas and any member of the trainees’ committee or third parties,” Procon said in a note.
The graduation company has until the next 19th to provide clarifications.
Contract fulfilled, says company
Last Saturday (15), questioned by the CNN regarding the transfer of BRL 927 from the graduation of the medical class to a personal account of Alicia Muller, Ás Formaturas manifested itself through its advisory saying that the contract was fulfilled.
The company highlighted that, in relation to this USP medical class, “Az has not committed itself to the realization or production of any event”.
“Az’s responsibility in the contract was limited to collecting the amounts from the graduates and transferring them to the class, in addition to carrying out the photographic coverage”, adds the company’s statement.
“In this sense, all transfers were carried out strictly as established in the contractual clauses”, concluded Ás Formaturas.
The company also stated that it is “available to the authorities to provide contracts, documents, emails and other information”.
Ás concluded by saying that it is in contact with the commission to seek a solution that will make the planned event possible.
