The Civil Police of the state of Rio de Janeiro carried out an operation last Thursday (17) to suppress the sale of counterfeit clothing and cell phone accessories.
The operation took place in five establishments in the center of Rio de Janeiro and Baixada Fluminense. The action resulted in five suspects being taken to the police station to provide clarification.
Clothes, cell phone covers and accessories, underwear, and other materials were seized in the operation. According to the agents investigating the case, the products had famous brands and had a similar design to the originals, however, the quality of the material made it clear that they were counterfeit.
Agents from the Police Station for the Repression of Crimes against Intangible Property (DRCPIM) have been intensifying a series of operations against piracy in recent months.
The police station continues with investigations into the case and advises the population to report suspected piracy activities. Anonymity is guaranteed.
