The Rio de Janeiro Military Police are carrying out an operation in Arará, Manguinhos and Mandela, in the northern part of the capital, and in Cidade de Deus, located in the western part of the city. According to the police, the action this Wednesday (11) aims to suppress vehicle theft and the movement of criminals in the surrounding area.
Since early morning, agents from the 18th Battalion of Jacarepaguá have been in Cidade de Deus with armored cars. Likewise, military police officers from the Police Pacification Coordination CPP are in the three communities in the north zone.
Residents of the CDD report that the atmosphere is tense and the police are searching anyone who passes near the armored vehicles.
The operation is still ongoing and the police have not yet released any information about arrests or seizures.
