Police discover counterfeit washing powder factory in Minas Gerais

A warehouse used for the production of counterfeit washing powder was discovered by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, this Monday (4), in Carmo do Cajuru, in the center-west region of Minas Gerais.

The location of this warehouse is the result of an investigation that began on October 29, when a first clandestine factory was located in the municipality, which supplied a unit in Divinópolis, also intercepted by the police on that occasion.

The warehouse was identified by the police, again, through complaints. The teams were informed about the new warehouse, located approximately 50 meters from the initial factory.

When they arrived at the place, which was rented, there were only a few people and signs that part of the materials had already been removed. However, samples of counterfeit washing powder and labels from a known brand of product were still in the property.

A series of items used in production, such as glue sticks, hot glue guns, a scale, cardboard boxes with false labels, an industrial conveyor belt measuring approximately 15 meters, a forklift and three hydraulic pallet jacks, were seized by agents.

According to the police, tools such as hoes and shovels, still with soap powder residue, were also found, indicating that the production had artisanal characteristics.

The official civil police expertise was called in to collect the samples. They will be analyzed and should contribute to the progress of the investigations.
