Police dismantle gang involved in drug and weapons trafficking in Recife

The Civil Police of Pernambuco dismantled a criminal organization that operated in Recife with drug and weapons trafficking this Tuesday (23).

The investigation into the “Queen of Arms” operation began in October 2022 with the aim of identifying criminal groups committed to the crimes of illegal firearms trade and drug trafficking.

With names and documents from third parties, criminals used this data to acquire weapons legally. According to delegate Álvaro Grako, head of the Robbery and Theft Police Station (DPRF), after this, they “suppressed the number of the firearm to make identification difficult”, and passed this weapon on to other members who worked in Recife.

In the weapons acquisition scheme, there were some “orange” people who were involved, including municipal guards.

In one of the houses targeted in the operation, 1.3 kg of cocaine and 1.5 kg of marijuana were seized in the house. A woman who was at the scene was also arrested, according to Deputy Diego Jardim.

In a statement, the Pernambuco Civil Police reported that the operation carried out 16 arrest warrants and 10 home search and seizure warrants, kidnapping of goods and valuables and judicial freezing of financial assets.
