The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized a 7.62 caliber rifle inside a car that overturned in Guarapuava (PR), around 260 kilometers from Curitiba.
According to the PRF, agents were called last Saturday afternoon to record the incident that involved just one vehicle. During the inspection, the police found the weapon – which is for restricted use – and ten rounds of ammunition in the car.
The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man, died at the scene, while the passenger, aged 18, suffered serious injuries and was taken to medical care in Guarapuava, having already been discharged. The Civil Police informs that she is being investigated.
The incident was referred by the PRF, initially, for the crime of illegal possession of a restricted-use firearm.
According to the folder, the 7.62 rifle is a weapon for restricted use, as it has great impact and piercing power, in addition to being an object that has the capacity to pierce common ballistic vests, such as those used by most police officers.
