Police identifies all accident victims that left 9 dead in MG

The Minas Gerais Civil Police said they have already identified the bodies of all the victims of the accident that left nine people killed on the night of May 13. The occurrence was on the BR-231 highway in Grão Mogol, in the north of Minas Gerais.

Legist medical Aline Brito of the Technical-Scientific Police Superintendence said the absence of charred bodies allowed agility in papilloscopy and complementary examinations.

The bodies remain at the Lugal Medical Post (PML) of Montes Claros and will be released to families as soon as the legal procedures are completed.

According to the delegate Jurandir César, a police inquiry was initiated at the Mogol Grain Police Station to investigate the causes and circumstances of the accident. The investigation will feature expert reports, survivor hearing and other steps.

Criminal expert Hugo Leonardo, responsible for the site expertise, highlighted the complexity of the scene and the technical procedures adopted. “It was a great impact collision, and the analysis of the traces will be essential for the final report and possible criminal accountability,” he said.

The van left the Minas Gerais triangle to Ceará and transported 21 people when it was hit by a trailer that came from the Northeast and was heading towards Rio Grande do Sul.

The motorcade invaded the wrong way and crashed into the van front. Among the fatal victims are eight adults and one child. The other occupants were rescued to health units in the region.
