On Tuesday afternoon (17), the São Paulo Civil Police identified commercial representative Rogério Cardoso Júnior, aged 64, as the attacker of lawyer Caroline Zanin. She is the sister of minister Cristiano Zanin, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The case occurred last Monday (16) in the Perdizes neighborhood, in the west zone of São Paulo. The lawyer was returning from a walk with the dogs when a man threatened her, kicked the animals and hit her in the leg. Surveillance cameras captured the attacks.
In the incident report, Caroline reported that she screamed for the condominium security guard to help her, but she did not have time to avoid the attacks. She says that she had bruises on her legs and that the dogs were bleeding.
Images from the condominium’s security cameras recorded the moment when the man approaches and tries to kick the animals at least six times. One of those kicks hits Caroline’s leg. Afterwards, he leaves (see video above).
The businessman was located inside his own apartment, which is in the same neighborhood as the victim. In conversation with the police, he confirmed the facts described in the police report.
According to investigation sources, Informally, Júnior said that he kicked the lawyer’s dogs because he had been bitten by the animals moments before.
Rogério Cardoso has no criminal record. He was summoned to give a statement at the 23rd Police District, which is investigating the case.
