Police identify suspect of killing Rota soldier in Santos and offer reward

The São Paulo Civil Police released this Thursday afternoon (8) the identity of the suspect of killing Rota soldier Samuel Wesley Cosmo, who was executed last Friday (2), with a shot in the face while patrolling in the Bom neighborhood. Retreat, in Santos.

A body camera installed on the soldier's uniform captured the moment he was shot. The image shows the police officer on patrol in alleys, when he is surprised by a criminal, who comes out of a door and shoots him.

The official announcement of the reward was made this Thursday afternoon (8), during a press conference at the ministry's office, set up in Santos, following the wave of violence against State agents.

This Wednesday (8), corporal José Silveira dos Santos was shot in the Morro de Tetéu region, also Santos.

The Public Security Secretariat will pay R$50,000 to anyone who provides information that helps locate Kaique Coutinho do Nascimento, who is known as “Chip”, is 21 years old and is on the run from justice.

The resolution establishing the reward of R$50,000 was signed by Public Security Secretary Guilherme Derrite.

According to him, the suspect's identity was informed to the police by another young man, who has a similar nickname to 'Chip'.

“An individual presented himself voluntarily, with the presence of a lawyer, as their nicknames were similar,” he explained.

Also according to the department leader, “Chip” has a criminal record for drug trafficking and as a “minor offender”.

Derrite also called on the population to collaborate with information that reaches “Chip”:

“He is on the run, and I call on the population to collaborate with us. The deadline [para o fim da Operação Verão] It is undetermined, but we will capture it”, highlighted Derrite.
