Around 3.8 tons of drugs seized by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais were sent for incineration at a steel mill in the city of Ouro Branco, around 100 kilometers from Belo Horizonte.
According to Rodrigo Bustamante, head of the State Department for Combating Drug Trafficking (Denarc), the incineration of narcotics represents the removal of drugs from the streets, the decapitalization of criminal organizations and the reduction of access to drugs.
“This incineration clearly demonstrates the institutional commitment to combating drug trafficking, especially that of Denarc, which, by operating at the state level, is able to repress this criminal activity,” Bustamonte highlighted.
The head of Denarc also highlighted the importance of reports made by society in the fight against trafficking. “We also count on the collaboration of the law-abiding population, who can increasingly report this criminal practice,” he reinforced.
Teams from Denarc and the Criminalistics Institute participated in the action, as well as prosecutors from the Public Ministry and other authorities.
