The Civil Police indicted for qualified homicide the 3rd PM sergeant who killed a marketer in April this year in Rio de Janeiro. The crime happened at the departure of a nightclub in Penha, north of the state capital.
According to the inquiry of the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), police officer Fernando Ribeiro Baraúna, who was off, was involved in a confusion inside the nightclub and would have confused the victim with the disaffection.
Safety cameras images recorded the start of the confusion, around 4:30 am, inside the nightclub. In the recordings, the sergeant’s wife appears arguing and shouting with an unidentified man who is removed from the scene by a security guard. See below:
The disagreement continues outside the nightclub and in the vicinity of a bank branch, where the man remains for about an hour, awaiting Fernando’s departure while talking to friends.
Later, when leaving the nightclub with his wife, the PM is surprised by the same man, who breaks a bottle and approaches hiding the object. He pays a blow to the sergeant’s neck, which he retained with shots. The persecution follows Belisário Pena Street, where a fair was assembled. The cameras show Fernando shooting several times as he runs after the aggressor.
After the confrontation, the policeman circulates by car through Panamericana Square and returns to the scene. According to the investigation, the agent confused the marketer with the aggressor and shot . Then the author of the shots and his wife descend from the vehicle and are detained by service PMs. Fernando Baraúna was arrested in the act.
Pedro Henrique Morato Dantas, 20, was the son of a known marketer and lived in the region of Road of Água Branca, in the West Zone. On his Instagram page, the young man had over 13,000 followers. He worked at the Gurgel Honorio Fair, in Panamericana Square, in the Penha neighborhood.
At the time of the crime, the Military Police reported that the corporation’s corregedoria was called and that an internal investigative procedure was instituted. The PM stressed that it does not condone with the commission of excesses and crimes made by its beings, rigorously punishing those involved when the facts found.
The DHC survey was sent to the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecution Service, which will decide whether or not to report the 3rd sergeant. THE CNN did not find the defense of the PM.
