Police indict taxi driver for murder of motorcyclist in Rio

Taxi driver Eduardo Henry Nogueira Gripp was indicted for the crime of murder with eventual intent for the death of motorcyclist Alan Rodrigues Sales, in Vila Isabel, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, in May of this year.

According to the Civil Police, the images from the taxi’s camera were analyzed, investigations were carried out and testimonies were collected, which indicated that the driver assumed the risk of killing.

Remember the case

According to the statements collected by the 20th DP (Vila Isabel), on the night of May 31, Eduardo and Alan had an argument and the motorcyclist allegedly broke the taxi’s rearview mirror, which started a chase.

Eduardo confirmed the argument and that his rearview mirror was broken, but denied the intention of hitting the motorcycle. On the other hand, the victim’s family stated that Eduardo intended to cause the accident and, consequently, the young man’s death.

The investigation took a new turn when the image of the taxi, driven by Eduardo, showed that the victim signaled that he was going to stop the motorcycle, but, even so, the taxi driver hit Alan’s vehicle.

The investigation report was sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio de Janeiro.
