After completing the investigation, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais indicted the 47-year-old man suspected of having raped a 22-year-old girl on June 30 in Belo Horizonte (MG) for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person.
The man appears in the images carrying the victim on his shoulders after she was left unconscious on the street by an app driver. Before, she had gone to a concert by the singer Thiaguinho at the Mineirão stadium, where she would have consumed alcoholic beverages.

If denounced and convicted, the suspect of having committed the rape can face 15 years in prison. According to the delegate in charge of the case, Danubia Quadros, the app driver who left the young woman on the sidewalk was also indicted and faces three years in prison for the crime of abandonment of the incapable.
The young woman’s friend who requested the race through the app and the motorcyclist who appears in the images helping the driver to carry the woman were not held criminally responsible.
“The judicial police work investigating crimes with criminal responsibility. Due to lack of legal provision, the friend, in quotes, of the young woman and also the motorcyclist who eventually passed by at the time and helped the driver to remove the young woman from the car were not indicted, “explained the delegate.
What those involved say
During the hearings, the suspected perpetrator of the rape claimed that he did not commit the crime, but opted for the right to remain silent.
The driver claimed that when he arrived to pick up the girl, she would be drunk, but awake. He claimed that he would have asked the boy who asked for the race to follow the route through the app.
The young woman’s friend would have informed her that her brother would be waiting for the girl in front of the building where she lives. The driver said, however, that when he arrived at his destination, her brother would not be there. The service provider added that he tried to call the guy who asked for the ride, but he didn’t answer. He said he also tried, unsuccessfully, to trigger neighbors through the intercoms.
The driver would then have asked for help from a motorcyclist passing by the scene. They removed the young woman from the car, already unconscious, put her on the sidewalk and both left.
The driver stated that he went around the neighborhood looking for somewhere where he could buy an isotonic to help her wake up, but that when he returned to the front of the building, she was no longer there. He claimed, then, that he supposed his brother had picked her up.
The victim testified shortly after leaving the hospital. According to the delegate, the young woman says she doesn’t remember anything, just getting into the app car and deleting it during the journey. Still according to her, she would have woken up only with the movement of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) at the time she was attended to.
The police report that they are still awaiting the results of some tests, which are being carried out by the Institute of Criminalistics, but add that material was collected from the victim and also from the suspect.
“We went to his house, where we seized a series of materials, such as clothes. When the victim was found, she had her panties down on her knee and was covered in a blanket, typically worn by homeless people. We also found a condom, which contained material similar to sperm”, detailed the delegate.
With the conclusion of the investigation, the Civil Police will present the complaint to the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MP-MG). The main suspect in the rape is under arrest and is awaiting trial in prison. The app driver will be able to wait in freedom.
