The Civil Police of Pernambuco is investigating the death of a 1-year-and-4-month-old child, who fell into a cistern in the house where he lived with his family, in the Pernambuco countryside. The case occurred in the district of São Domingos, in Brejo da Madre de Deus, on Wednesday (25).
The child was taken to a health unit, but did not survive. She was reportedly at home with her mother and two brothers, according to information from neighbors.
At one point, the mother noticed the little girl’s absence and found her in the cistern.
The girl’s body was sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Caruaru.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the 128th District Police Station, in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, registered the occurrence as a “death to be clarified”.
“Investigations have begun and will continue until the facts are fully clarified,” the note concludes.
