A Civil Police operation launched this Thursday morning (23) targets a scheme that would have embezzled around R$15 million from the Public Servants’ Pension Institute of the Municipality of Belford Roxo (Previde).
The action carries out search and seizure warrants and seeks to seize the assets and accounts of those involved. Among the main suspects are former directors of Previde identified as authors of fraudulent financial transactions.
According to the Civil Police, investigations indicate that the amounts were irregularly transferred to 539 beneficiaries, the majority of whom had no legitimate connection with the institute. The objective of the operation is to recover public assets and collect evidence to hold everyone involved accountable.
Rosemery da Silva Barcellos Aleixo, former administrative-financial director, and Iolanda Curitiba de Souza Assis, former CEO, are the main suspects of having orchestrated the fraudulent financial transactions.
The operation also analyzes a series of municipal decrees and ordinances that deal with the appointment and dismissal of positions in the Previde management published between October and December 2024.

On October 11, 2024, Mayor Wagner dos Santos Carneiro (Waguinho) appointed Iolanda Curitiba de Souza Assis as director-president of Previde and Rosemery da Silva Barcellos Aleixo as administrative and financial director
Subsequently, on October 18, 2024, the Decree was published that appointed Previde’s board of directors, with Iolanda Curitiba de Souza Assis as a full member and Rosemery da Silva Barcellos Aleixo as an alternate.
Finally, on December 30, 2024, decree No. 6,150 dismissed Previde’s entire executive board as of January 1, 2025.
