The Civil Police of São Paulo investigates an unusual case of theft of at least eight vehicles simultaneously. On Tuesday night (5), spectators of the show by the American band Maroon 5, held at Allianz Parque, left their cars in a supposed parking lot located in the neighborhood of Perdizes, in the west of the capital.
Employees billed in advance for vacancies. Upon returning from the show, the vehicle owners found the property closed and empty, with no sign of cars and employees.
The case went viral on social media through a print of a conversation on a messaging app. In the speech, an alleged owner of one of the cars reported that 100 cars had been stolen from the fraudulent parking lot. The theft cases were registered online and initially by the 23rd Police District of São Paulo, located in Perdizes.
So far, eight people have reported the crime, but new victims may appear. Police rule out the possibility that 100 vehicles were taken, but are looking for that night’s police reports.
The investigations are now under the responsibility of the 1st Divecar, DEIC’s department specializing in vehicle theft. So far, the cars and criminals have not been located.
According to the most recent figures from the São Paulo State Public Security Department, in the first two months of the year, 5,796 cases of vehicle theft were recorded in the capital of São Paulo, compared to 5,034 in the same period in 2021, which represents an increase of 15.1%.
