Police investigate whether girl killed in RJ was being attacked by her stepfather

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro is investigating whether the girl Lara Emanuelly Braga da Silva was a frequent victim of aggression. The three-year-old child was found dead by the Military Police in São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, this Sunday morning (14), with marks on her body.

SAMU was called by witnesses but it was too late. Firefighters took the victim's body to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Duque de Caxias.

According to the head of the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Station, Mauro Cesar da Silva Junior, tests proved that Lara died as a result of the injuries suffered. The examination was also carried out at the family home.

At the time of the crime, the girl's mother had left home to take her other daughter to the doctor. She has already given a statement.

Witnesses who live in the Vila Rosali region named the child's stepfather as a suspect. Carlos Henrique da Silva Junior confessed that he hit Lara Emanuelly. He was arrested red handed for qualified homicide.
