Police investigates group that would have frauduled $ 10 million in retirements

The Civil Police of Pará participated on the morning of Thursday (8) in the fulfillment of 24 search and seizure warrants as part of an operation that was intended to dismantle a scheme of financial fraud that caused damage of more than $ 10 million to victims from several Brazilian states, including Santa Catarina and Pará.

The operation was performed simultaneously in the cities of Para de Belém, Ananindeua and Capanema, as well as Florianópolis (SC).

According to the delegate Leonardo da Silva, the investigated were officials of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) to obtain retired data, open bank accounts on behalf of the victims and hire fraudulent payroll loans.

“After the release of the values, they were transferred to accounts of one of the investigated and then distributed among several accounts, with the objective of hindering the tracking of money,” said the Santa Catarina delegate.

Only the victims of Santa Catarina registered estimated loss of R $ 100 thousand. With the inclusion of victims from other states, the total amount of fraud exceeds $ 10 million, according to the authorities.

During the operation, mobile phones and internet equipment were seized. People led to the police stations gave testimony and were then released.

Part of the electronic devices were returned, while others remain retained to assist in the next phases of the investigation.
