The Rio Civil Police arrested, this Wednesday (11), two men who were at one of the largest car dismantling sites in Baixada Fluminense.
Marcio Pereira da Silva, aged 44, and Samuel Maia do Carmo, aged 27, were arrested red-handed in the Riachão neighborhood, in Nova Iguaçu. Both have several criminal records and were in possession of a 9mm Taurus pistol and a signal blocker, which were seized.
According to investigations by the 52nd police station (Nova Iguaçu), responsible for the arrests, three months ago a vehicle carrying several parts from a stolen BMW was seized by the police. From there, it was possible to deepen the investigations and locate the dismantling.
The Police also found that vehicles stolen by members of Comando Vermelho from several favelas, mainly from Complexo do Lins and Complexo do Chapadão, were sold to receivers, who dismantled the cars and resold parts on the parallel market.
Luxury vehicles are the main targets. After theft, cars are sold for less than 10% of their market value.
When the police arrived at the dismantling site, they found a partially disassembled Chevrolet Tracker stolen on the 8th, in addition to around 30 vehicle engines that are still being identified, hundreds of separate vehicle parts for sale, license plates from stolen vehicles and documents from robbery victims.
The Police reported that they are continuing to investigate to identify the entire chain of receivers and locate and arrest the other members of the organization.
The prisoners were charged with qualified reception within the scope of Operation Tourniquete, which has been carried out in Rio since September and arrested more than 240 prisoners.
The objective is to combat theft, theft and reception of vehicles, as investigations show that, through these crimes, the Red Command finances the purchase of ammunition, the payment of allowances to families of imprisoned criminals, among other crimes.
