Police locate suspects involved in the disappearance of tourists from SP in Bahia; one of them is dead

Two suspects involved in the disappearance of tourists Vitor Benites Teixeira and Lucas Ferreira de Sousa were located in the city of Eunápolis (BA), about 650 kilometers from Salvador, this Thursday (29).

The two tourists from São Paulo have been missing since last Saturday (24). They were last seen leaving a bar on Avenida Norte Sul, in Eunápolis, according to the Bahia Civil Police (PCBA).

The suspects were found during the operation called Mãos Livres, which focused on locating those involved in kidnapping crimes that occurred in the municipality. The individuals had outstanding warrants and tried to escape the police approach, which took place in the Alecrim I neighborhood.

According to the PCBA, one of the suspects was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and was hiding in the back of a commercial establishment. The other man, 20 years old, fired shots at the teams during the escape attempt and ended up injured after a confrontation. He was taken to the Eunápolis Regional Hospital, but did not survive.

A .38 caliber revolver, spent and intact ammunition, drugs, a balaclava and money were seized from the victim.

Furthermore, agents from the Eunápolis Territorial Police Station found a charred car, with the same characteristics as Vitor and Lucas’ vehicle, in a wooded area in the Vila Olímpica neighborhood. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
