The Paraná Civil Police are looking for gas station attendant Paulo Sérgio Esperançeta, accused of setting fire to Caio Murilo Lopes, 34, last Saturday (18), at a service station in Curitiba.
Lopes was seriously burned, but his life is not in danger. The accused is on the run; the police will hear witnesses this Monday (20).
The gas station is in the Pilarzinho neighborhood. The two would have argued because the attendant would have damaged the car key after supplying.
Footage from a security camera shows the gas station attendant throwing fuel at the customer and then setting it on fire. Witnesses said the gas station attendant used a lighter to light the flames.
The fire was put out by another employee with the help of an extinguisher. The client was rescued and taken to Hospital Evangélico Mackenzie; he had severe burns but is not life-threatening.
According to sources, the Police will investigate a possible attempted murder.
Also on Saturday, the police looked for the accused, who fled the post in an unidentified car. He was not located at home.
In a press release, the Secretariat of Public Security of Paraná stated that “the hearings will begin and other steps relevant to the case will be carried out immediately”.
“Investigations are still in their infancy, so we cannot say for sure yet. [a dinâmica dos fatos e o motivo da discussão], as the witnesses, family members and other people involved will be heard by the delegate. It is only possible to say that there was a discussion between the parties”, says the statement.
In a note, lawyer Marcel Bento Amaral, who represents the gas station, reported that the attendant was fired and that the establishment is helping with the investigations.
