The Civil Police are hunting by André Luiz Bandeira Leal, known as “Bracinho”, appointed as one of the main responsible for a series of thefts to homes that already total more than 50 occurrences in the north and western areas of Rio de Janeiro. Considered a fugitive, he is the target of three arrest warrants and appears prominently on the poster of the corporation’s wanted.
The investigation, conducted by agents of the 24th DP (Piedade) began more than a month ago and collected images of security cameras that caught the criminal actions at dawn. Through the analysis of these scenes and the crossing of data, the researchers identified a taxi that supported the escapes.
The driver of the vehicle, Márcio Corrêa, was arrested in the act at dawn on Monday (6). He confessed that he charged an additional amount to bring criminals to the theft places and wait in the vicinity. The taxi driver, who already has an antecedents for theft, was charged with qualified theft and criminal association.
According to the Civil Police, the gang always acted the same way: invaded houses at dawn and quickly escaped with the logistical support of the taxi, which circulated with a legal look to mislead suspicions. The group was operating in neighborhoods such as Piedade, Quintino, Praça Seca and Tanque.
Bracinho has more than ten cases for qualified theft. Police continue with investigations to identify and arrest the other members of the criminal association.
