A civil police officer died this Tuesday (24), after the vehicle in which he was carrying out investigations crashed into the back of a truck. The accident happened on the Washington Luís Highway, near Jardim Gramacho, in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense.
According to the State Department of Civil Police, the police officer was an inspector and was 33 years old. He had been with the force for 9 months and currently worked at the 66th DP (Piabetá), which is located in the city of Magé, Metropolitan Region of Rio. The police officer was identified as Felipe Gralato Bastos.
It is not yet known what caused the accident. A video recorded minutes after the crash shows the front of the vehicle completely dented and the Fire Department at the scene. An expert analysis was also carried out.
In a statement, the Civil Police lamented the inspector’s death. They said they sympathize with the pain of relatives and friends and that they are providing all necessary assistance to the family.
The 59th DP (Duque de Caxias) is investigating the causes of the accident.
