A woman was punched by a military police officer during an approach on a horseback ride held in Cristinápolis, in the state of Sergipe, on Sunday (5). The images of the aggression circulate on social networks this Monday (6).
According to the state’s Military Police (PM), agents were called to intervene in an event held without the knowledge of local public bodies.
Upon arriving at the scene, the team found what the police classified as a “general disorder”, with motorcyclists performing “dangerous maneuvers”.
Regarding the woman who was attacked, the PM claims that she was driving a motorcycle without a license plate and exhaust system and that she refused to turn off and get off the vehicle. According to the PM, people at the scene encouraged actions against the police.
“The driver then began to curse the military police and, immediately after, grabbed a stone and threw it in the direction of the police. When trying to throw the stone at the garrison again, one of the soldiers, acting in defense of himself and his companions, used a more energetic action to repel the unjust aggression perpetrated by that person”, says the PM, in a note sent to the CNN .
According to the PM, the woman was taken to the police station, signed a Detailed Term and was then released.
Governor calls for investigation
The governor of Sergipe, Fábio Mitidieri (PSD), spoke about the case. In a post on Twitter, Mitidieri demanded that the case be investigated.
“We do not admit violence against women under any circumstances! Upon learning of what happened during the ride from Cristinápolis, I ordered the Secretary of Public Security that the PM’s Internal Affairs department rigorously investigate the fact!”, He said.
