Police officer who threw man off bridge is charged with attempted murder

The Internal Affairs Division of the Military Police of São Paulo charged PM soldier Luan Felipe Alves Pereira with attempted murder, this Wednesday (18), for throwing a man from a bridge in the South Zone of São Paulo at the beginning of this month.

In addition to the soldier, six other agents involved in the case were also indicted: four for malfeasance, one for bodily harm and another for culpable embezzlement, according to sources in the know. CNN .

PM Luan Felipe Alves Pereira has been in prison since December 5th. The military police investigation goes to the Military Justice, and it is up to the body to open a view so that the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP) can file a complaint, request new measures or request the case to be closed.

The soldier has already been accused of the death of a suspect with 12 shots after a chase in Diadema, in Greater São Paulo. The case, which was initially processed in the Military Court, was sent to regular court on suspicion of intentional homicide, but ended up archived in January of this year.

In testimony, the police officer stated that his objective was to immobilize the man after he had allegedly resisted a police approach. According to the PM, the intention was to throw him on the ground – not the wall.
