Two military police officers were preventively arrested last Tuesday (16) on suspicion of extorting a businessman from Salvador (BA) in 2022. The victim was reportedly approached by plainclothes police officers who forced him to make bank transfers under threat. The names of the agents were not released.
According to investigations by the Bahia Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the crime took place in the Stiep neighborhood, when the businessman was in his car. The suspects, who were assigned to Rondesp (Special Patrols), approached the victim and introduced themselves as Civil Police agents.
The police were armed and managed to extort the man for about an hour. They got a large sum of money – but the exact amount was not disclosed. After being released by the police, the businessman filed a complaint, and thus the investigation began.
Just over two years later, the police issued arrest warrants against the two PMs, who were still active.
According to information from the Civil Police, these warrants were served and the pair were taken to the Shock Battalion. The two have already undergone physical examinations and are in custody.
