Two military police officers were arrested who, during an approach, placed a plastic bag on the head of a woman, in the city of Novo Hamburgo, in Rio Grande do Sul.
The General Internal Affairs of the Military Brigade reported that the duo was arrested preventively on the morning of this Wednesday (4). They are investigated for the crimes of torture and abuse of authority.
The video of the approach reverberated and was denounced by social networks. In the images, it is possible to see a woman standing, handcuffed, facing a wall, when a policeman, from behind, places a bag on her head to suffocate her.
“The arrest was carried out as a result of investigations by the Military Police Inquiry, conducted by the General Internal Affairs, identifying, preliminarily, the practice, in theory, of the crimes of abuse of authority and torture”, informed the Internal Affairs in a note.
“The military police had already been removed from their duties since January 2, when the Military Brigade became aware of the facts and the identity of those involved”, concluded the note.
