The civil, military and scientific police of Paraná, together with the police of the state of São Paulo, arrested this Tuesday (20), 17 suspects who participated in the mega robbery against a valuables carrier in the city of Guarapuava (PR), on April 17 this year.
The results of the operation, which mobilized more than 700 police officers from both states, were announced yesterday at a press conference of the Public Security Secretariat.
In five months of investigation, a total of 24 people were arrested, three of whom are still on the run and another eight died in the conflict.
During this Tuesday’s operation (20), three individuals were killed in São Paulo, one being a leader in the planning of the robbery. The Police are also investigating the participation of those involved in other major robberies, such as in Itajubá (MG), on June 23.
According to the police, those involved led a life of luxury after the robberies and some had been working for at least 10 years in the area of bank robbery.
The search for the capture continues. “It’s a matter of honor for the state,” the teams said during the press conference.
The prisoners will answer for criminal organization, robbery, serious bodily harm, illegal possession of a weapon and explosives.
The investigations are now focused on a second investigation, which should be finalized in the coming days with the complaint of seven people. Two individuals were formally denounced, with evidence, in the first inquiry. The third inquiry should deal with temporary arrests in recent months.
