A force of more than 500 military police officers was sent this week to the city of Parintins (AM), located around 370 kilometers from Manaus. According to the Amazonas Military Police, the troops will reinforce overt policing during the 57th edition of the 2024 Parintins Festival, which takes place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of June.
Among the police officers who will collaborate on the beat, some are fluent in foreign languages, such as Spanish and English. Patrolling will be reinforced with agents on foot, on motorcycles and in cars, in addition to drone monitoring.
According to the PM, There will be no changes to policing in the capital of Amazonas because of the festival.

A 37-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking in Parintins last Monday afternoon (24). At the time of his arrest, military police were on patrol when the man was seen selling drugs. The individual who bought the drugs fled when he noticed the police presence.
At the scene, the suspect who sold the product was arrested, and 36 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of oxy, five marijuana cigarettes, two precision scales, a small machine, a ledger, a knife, as well as other objects.
