Police intervened early this morning to remove a few dozen pro-Palestinian students who had been occupying the University of Bern since Sunday, while those at the University of Lausanne voluntarily ended their nearly 15-day sit-in. Bern police went to the scene at the request of the administration, which had declared since Monday that any occupation is “unacceptable”. The students wanted to denounce the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, which was launched after the unprecedented October 7 attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israeli soil.
