A report by the Civil Police and Forensic Expertise of the State of Ceará showed, this Wednesday (22), that the mayor of Juazeiro do Norte, Yanny Brena (PL), was killed by her boyfriend, Rickson Pinto, who later committed suicide.
The initial line of investigation by the state authorities already pointed out that Yanny Brena would have been the victim of femicide. The cadaveric report indicated that the cause of death was asphyxiation.
Yanny Brena’s body had marks of violence. The maid who worked for the couple was the first person to find the bodies.
The two were holding hands. Yanny Brena reportedly broke up with Rickson a few days before the couple was found dead.
Yanny Brena Alencar Araújo was a doctor and was the first woman to chair the City Council of Juazeiro do Norte, in her first term as councilor. She was the sister of federal deputy Yury do Paredão (PL).
Rickson Pinto was from Natal, and they had been dating since 2020. The young man had a daughter from a previous relationship and had already been arrested for illegally carrying a firearm. He also participated in vaquejadas and posted records of events on social networks.
