The São Paulo Civil Police, through the Taubaté Sectional Police Station, requested the preventive arrest of Italo Rodrigues da Silva, for his participation in the attack on the MST settlement.
The suspect was reported by Antonio Martins, accused of leading the attack. He was also recognized by witnesses to the crime.
“There are informative elements to the effect that Italo was one of the perpetrators of the serious crime being investigated”, says the police.
“The seriousness of the crime, added to the dangerousness of the agent, requires that ante tempus arrest be ordered”, he adds.
Witnesses said they were threatened by Ítalo.
About the crime
The attack took place last Friday (10), leaving eight people shot. Two victims died at the scene. Another six were taken to the Taubaté Regional Hospital and Tremembé Emergency Room.
Previously, the MST reported that the attack caused three deaths, one of them after a period of hospitalization in an induced coma. Later, the Movement retreated, highlighting the total of two fatalities.
One of the people taken to the hospital, a woman, is injured and in serious condition, according to the delegate of the Taubaté Civil Police Section, Daniel Lourenço.
According to the investigation, the motivation for the attack was a disagreement over the irregular trade in land within the Olga Benário settlement area. According to the MST, 10 criminals entered the place.
