This week, the Minas Gerais Civil Police rescued a 64-year-old farmer who was the victim of a kidnapping in the rural area of Divino, Zona da Mata Mineira. He was kidnapped on Tuesday (12) and found alive the next day in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Civil Police, the victim was approached by two armed men, who kidnapped her and demanded a ransom from her family for her release. The criminals would have contacted the victim’s family demanding a specific amount. The amount requested was not disclosed.
Farm employees reported to the Military Police that they were taken hostage and that the kidnappers took the keys to the vehicles on the property.
Teams from the Anti-Kidnapping Police Station were called and began field work to locate the criminals and the victim. On Wednesday the police located them in Rio de Janeiro. The victim was released and returned safely to his city of origin.
No details of the rescue or negotiations were provided. The investigations are now being carried out by the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Police Station (DAS).
According to the police, more details of the case will be released as the investigation progresses.
