Police respond to Maryland school incident; no active situation

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland in the United States responded to an incident at Joppatowne High School, the local sheriff said Friday (6) in a post on X. Media had reported that a fight involving a weapon led to people being evacuated from the school.

The sheriff’s office told 11 News there was no active situation Friday afternoon. The outlet also said authorities appeared to have taken one person into custody off campus.

Meanwhile, in Georgia, authorities have identified the shooter suspected of killing four people at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The 14-year-old is a student at the school and is in custody, Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said at a news conference.

A Discord account the FBI linked to the suspect referenced plans for a mass shooting in 2023 and shared photos of firearms, according to documents obtained by the CNN .
