Police say justice minister maintains commitment to readjustment

The Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, met this Thursday (13) with police officers who are awaiting the salary readjustment and would have reaffirmed the commitment that the government will pay.

Marcus Firme, president of the National Federation of Federal Police (Fenapef), who attended the meeting, told CNN, that the category is confident. “We have a value that is in the budget law. Other careers had restructuring in past governments and we didn’t. It is our historic struggle for greater efficiency. We could do a lot more if we had careers restructured. Everyone stands to gain. Much more to society,” he said.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the federal police, federal experts, federal highway police and employees of the National Penitentiary Department (Depen).

According to participants at the meeting, Minister Anderson Torres spoke of the pressures that the government has been suffering from other categories that also demand readjustments and bonuses, such as tax auditors. The minister met this Monday with Bolsonaro, in Planalto.

This year’s budget has not yet been sanctioned. The text provides for the use of R$ 1.7 billion in salary increases and restructuring of careers linked to the Federal Executive Branch. President Jair Bolsonaro promised to grant readjustment to police categories. But it has not yet edited the rule that will allocate the resources. The government is still deciding whether to send a Provisional Measure or a Bill to Congress.
