Police seize more than 3 tons of marijuana in a cargo of cattle feed

The Civil Police of Mato Grosso do Sul seized more than 3 tons of marijuana hidden in a truck loaded with cattle feed. The drug, valued at around R$6.5 million, was located in the early hours of Monday (11) during an operation by the Specialized Police Station for the Repression of Border Crimes following an anonymous tip.

According to the complaint, the vehicle was transporting drugs disguised as cargo. The agents went to the indicated location and found the truck carrying beef feed at a company in Dourados, approximately 230 km from Campo Grande. As loading began, police officers began monitoring the action.

The truck went to a shed that was closed to make it difficult to see the load. Then, three men, aged 28, 29 and 41, left the scene and were approached by the police, confessing that they had been hired to load the vehicle with drugs.

The police officers then invaded the shed and confirmed that the truck was loaded with a large quantity of drugs, disguised as beef feed. In total, 3,280.4 kg of marijuana were seized, divided into 164 packages. The truck and drugs were taken to the police headquarters for investigative procedures.

In addition to the three men, the 61-year-old truck driver and a 58-year-old accomplice who helped with the transport were also arrested. All five suspects were taken to the police station and charged with drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking.
