Police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) seized ten war rifles and more than 1.5 tons of pure cocaine on a farm in the city of Aguaí, in the interior of São Paulo, last Sunday (6).
Part of the weapons were diverted from the Bolivian Army.
The investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of materials was against a criminal organization involved in attacks on armored vehicles and value carriers. The search for the suspects had been going on for a year by the 4th Division of Investigations into Crimes against Property (Disccpat).
According to the Public Security Secretariat, agents discovered an address in the municipality of Cordeirópolis, in June this year, which was used to hide weapons and drugs for the criminal organization.
That month, police went to the location, but the suspects left the address in time.
The gang was responsible for selling weapons and drugs to different regions of the state for criminals specializing in armored car robberies, according to Deic.
Investigations
During the investigations, the police mapped the suspects’ routine and realized that they had changed their habits to avoid being located. Even so, with the monitoring of one of the individuals, the police arrived at the site in Aguaí.
As a result, Deic agents mounted an operation at the address in the interior city, which surrounded the property and detained three suspects.
Seized materials
In a truck, an arsenal with ten rifles was located: one AR 10 type, six FAL type 7.62 caliber, one AK 7.62 caliber and two SIG .30. Furthermore, 325 ammunition of various calibers and 53 magazines were found.
At the site, the suspects also stored around 1.5 tons of pure cocaine. Regarding weapons, three were diverted from the Bolivian Army.
Suspects
The suspects, aged 27, 31 and 42, were taken to the Deic headquarters, in the capital of São Paulo, where they were arrested red-handed. Of these, two had criminal records, one for drug trafficking and the other for illegal possession of a weapon.
The case was registered as drug trafficking, illegal possession of a weapon and association for trafficking in the 4th Disccpat.
