Police suspect pickup truck with low suspension and find 1.2 tons of marijuana

The Military Police of Paraná seized last Monday (22) more than 1.2 tons of marijuana in a pickup truck in Douradina, a city located almost 600 kilometers from Curitiba. One person was arrested.

According to the police, military police spotted the vehicle in the city of Ivaté and became suspicious due to the fact that the truck had a low suspension. They were ordered to stop, but the driver ignored the order and tried to flee. The chase lasted for about 10 kilometers until the car was intercepted in Douradina.

After stopping the truck, the officers found the drugs scattered throughout the vehicle. According to the police, the license plates were tampered with and, after investigation, it was discovered that the car had a theft alert.

The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, was arrested in flagrante delicto. He told the police that he would receive R$10,000 to transport the drugs.

The Paraná Public Security Secretariat reports that in the first half of this year, the state’s security forces seized 221.3 tons of marijuana, 17.27% more compared to the same period in 2023.
