The Public Ministry of Amazonas opened an investigation to investigate allegations of a company hired by the state’s Public Security Secretariat for late payments relating to the supply and maintenance of police vehicles in the state.
According to the MP, the delay in arranging payments has directly affected ostensible policing. Due to the impasse, some of the vehicles were taken out of circulation and were parked in the yard of the company, Tecway Serviços e Locação de Equipamentos Ltda.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the episode generates “serious damage to the community and a setback in the response capacity of public security”.
The MP demanded clarification from the secretariat about the reason for the breach of the contract, the values of the installments and what was being done to resolve the issue. In addition, he requested a survey of the number of vehicles that are unavailable.
The Public Ministry asks the department for updates on the current conditions of maintenance services and whether they are complying with contractual clauses, such as the supply of cameras, image and sound recording equipment and real-time geolocation service for vehicles.
When questioned, the secretariat informed that the contracts are already being regularized. According to the ministry, there was no harm to the service and operational work carried out by the Military Police.
“The SSP also informs that it is available to meet the demands of the State Public Ministry”, concluded the body in a note.
